"These Are the Days"
Italy
"Visions of a cinematic Tuscan sunrise set the scene. The sun would break, painting the fields gold, searing the dew into a haze that would hang between the hills. The countryside would bake in the warmth of a new day and the clouds would dance with the colors of the rainbow to an Italian folk song. Instead a drab barrier of gray held the sun at bay, casting the groomed landscape into shadow. Cool tones chilled the hills soggy with dew as the dream of a picturesque morning faded into the gloom. As disappointment dulled the landscape the aura of Tuscany arose from its slumber. Silence magnified and eased the mind, the calming blues relieved the mourning state, and appreciation for the blessed moment thawed the heart. Then as the soaked pastures started to shimmer, the sun broke through the clouds."
Every photograph in my landscape gallery is named after a song. I use music to help tell my story with the photo and the title "These Are the Days" was carefully selected for that purpose. The Van Morrison track fit the bill perfectly for this piece and if you'd like to slow time down and soak in the serenity of the Tuscan countryside with me I've included the song for you to play above. To learn more about "These Are the Days" and its connection to the Van Morrison song you can read its featured post as part of my "Behind the Title" blog series.
