"Patience, it’s said to be a virtue. The rewards are subtle, the practice maddening but the master is revered. Urgency is a plague. Distractions scramble the mind already bombarded by thought but during glimmers of pause a faint whisper beckons. This gentle force burns slow and dim but can quell the writhing sea with permission. Its order is to hold, allow the storm to pass, digest the moment, embrace the peace. It can be uncomfortable, panic is building but a shy suggestion issues another inhale. The virtuous abide, surrender to the call and revel in the gratitude that results."
Purgatory on Earth, the Sands Study documents the elegant beauty of the hellish dune landscape. The lore of purgatory is one of intense suffering, a place designed to punish the souls vanquished to it in order to purify them for eternal peace. The Sands Study is my attempt to capture the peace within the brutal landscape of the sand dunes. You can read the entire series statement and browse the rest of the collection here.
